“Thank you very much, Negros Occidental, for my big win in all the cities, towns and districts of the entire province,” leading vice presidential candidate Leni Robredo said yesterday.
Robredo post a "Thank you" on her Facebook page in response to a post on the LeniRobredo4VicePresident – Negros Group page.
The post titled “Take a bow, Negros Occidental” showed that Robredo won in every town and city of the province.
The final Comelec count Saturday in the race for the vice presidency showed Leni Robredo with 614,440 votes in Negros Occidental, followed by Chiz Escudero with 136,634, Bongbong Marcos – 119,149, Alan Peter Cayetano – 72,832, Antonio Trillanes – 51,143 and Gringo Honasan – 12,145.
Robredo said she will personally thank people of Negros for the support and will visit the island soon.
Meanwhile, Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra said yesterday that the people have spoken and opposing political groups should forget politics and work for the good of the people
They should not harbor grudges and ill feelings now that the elections are over, he added.
He called on political leaders in Bacolod City to instead reconcile and cooperate for the common good for a peaceful and progressive city.
For those who won, they should be grateful to God and the people, and should not disappoint the electorate, he said.
They should provide honest and good service, he said.
Those who lost should also accept defeat and help those who won in working to serve the people, he added.
