After Being denied Entry,Korean National Commits Suicide at NAIA 3.


A South Korean man allegedly facing investment scam cases in his home country died of an apparent suicide at Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Thursday evening.

Department of Transportation (DOTr) spokesperson Cherie Mercado identified the man as An Sang Kwan, who arrived in the country earlier in the day.

"Ang nangyari, he came in 3:30 a.m., (Cebu Pacific) 5J flight from Taipei," Mercado told GMA News Online in a phone interview. "(He) was denied entry by Philippine immigration."

Citing a report from investigating policemen, Mercado said airport crew found the Korean national lifeless inside the exclusion room where passengers denied entry wait for their flights, at 7:28 p.m.

The DOTr official added Sang used the strap of his shoulder bag and tied the other end to the hook found behind the door of the cubicle.

"Korean embassy representative en route to NAIA (to check on the situation)," Mercado said.

Quoting sources from the Bureau of Immigration, Mercado said the Korea Interpol and Korean Embassy in Manila asked Philippine authorities to bar Sang's entry so he can be deported to face his cases.
Sang was supposed to be fetched by a team of Korean authorities on Friday.
