We all experienced having trouble and spent a lot of time complying our homework given by our teachers, instead that we enjoy playing and doing some chores at home.
But this Teacher from Texas earn praises from readers on how she introduced a new policy for homework in her class: do task that are left unfinished in school or no formal homework at all.
A teacher named Brandy Young issued a note to parents when they met for a briefing. The note was shared by parent Samantha Gallagher on Facebook and has been shared by more than 66,000.
In the viral note, Young said: “Research has been unable to prove that homework improves student performance. Rather, I ask that you spend your evening doing things that are proven to correlate with student success.”
“Eat dinner as family, read together, play outside and get your child to bed early,” she specified.
Gallagher is also pleased with Young’s directive.
“We’re happy that at the end of a long school day she’ll get to come home and unwind and be a kid… go outside to play, make new friends, spend more time as a family,” she said.
Many reacted positively to the post of Samantha.
“This is so awesome as it demonstrates how many parents and teachers would support this kind of policy! Especially for kids in Elementary school. It prioritizes family time and youth activity! I feel 8 hrs a day in school for kids this age is enough,” one user commented.
While another said: “I like this teacher. She has her head on right. I can understand why your post has so many shares.”
