Many scammers and even deceitful message uses text messages as the medium to have a target victim.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is pushing for the passage of the Sim Card Registration Bill, seeking President Rodrigo Duterte’s move to certify it as urgent.
This is prompted by the series of bomb threats received in schools and public places last week.
Gatchalian sees this as a measure to immediately locate and capture individuals who spread rumors about bomb threats through text messages.
Under the bill, a buyer must present a valid photo I.D. when buying a sim card and the details such as the mobile number must be registered within 180 days otherwise it will be deactivated.
Gatchalian assures that cellular data information will remain confidential and that the bill will not violate the people’s right to privacy.
The mandatory registration of sim cards is implemented in many countries primarily to counter terrorism and support law enforcement efforts.
